Etsy - Unnecessary rule changes, no sales, higher fees

Etsy used to be a nice site to sell on, and a low fees to boot. These times are long gone and sales are few and far between. Lately I had NONE. When I search as a buyer, I can't find anything, although Etsy will display anything you google search for in it (but not on website). I tried searching for Pissed off Etsy and low and behold, Etsy pops up in google search and claims they have it. lol Etsy implemented new rules: all pictures have to be at least 1500 px wide, so you can't list a new listing with pics less than that. For some unfathomable reason existing listings are okay (grandfather's clause?). This has nothing to do with future sales if any. Etsy isn't shy to make unnecessary suggestions. Such as this. I am listing an item that weighs a couple of pounds, so tried calculated shipping with $2 handling fee (total about $10 unless it goes to California 2000 miles away), and that is fine by Etsy. Tried to enter a Standard Shipping of $10.50, and Etsy says no, buyers don't like this. Whatcha know.... this makes no sense. If these new and exciting changes don't produce more sales any time soon, I am packing my bags. Had a few sales on eBay this month already, but not on Etsy. Argh

Etsy - A seller who is being unnecessarily stubborn and I've already blocked the charge to my credit card

I contacted the seller this morning to request a cancellation. I spent the night in the hospital and was exhausted and worried about the cost of the stay. I was admitted the hospital last week as well, so I don't know how much Medicare will pay. The seller send me a convo advising me that the shop does not accept cancellations or returns. Very brusque, I'd say. I then told the seller I would return they item and dispute the charge with my credit card company. I received the following in return. "Dear Jo M Etsy is the processor of your credit card charges. Please contact Etsy directly with all your payments credit card card charges and all your further inquiries. Again, this sale is final and your item will be shipped as scheduled as we do not accept cancelations and or returns. Furthermore, we do not honor any refunds. Respectfully, we have nothing more to add to what we already stated, please kindly direct all your further communications to Etsy customer service. Thank you for your attention to the above. Cyrus" "I called my credit card company and we blocked the transaction and I sent another request to cancel the order. See Below: Respectfully. I have contacted my my credit card company and we have blocked this purchase. It makes little sense for you to ship an item for which you cannot collect payment. It's also incredibly bad form to insist upon a sale. - you risk a negative review and it will affect your business. I'm sorry you insist on taken such a hard line. Jo" I received this reply. "This is harassment. Do not contact us again. Contact Etsy support. We will report your harassment to Etsy." I responded as follows, " would very much like you to report my to Etsy. I would like Etsy to know how unreasonable you have been. I've given you notice about blocking the charge for this piece so if you insist on sending it, Etsy will have a chance to review this matter. I have had a reply from the seller but honestly, what horrible customer service! The print is $45 and all they need do is relist it. I've sold on Etsy and on eBay for many years and I've always had a "no-hassle-return-policy. Why would I want to force someone into buying something they didn't want or like. Plus, it does not bode well for a review for a seller to insist on this kind policy. I hate to say it, but eBay always has its buyers' backs and I certainly hope Etsy takes a step in the right direction by emulating eBay's Buyer Gauurantee. Etsy - WORST customer service for a seller

I am a seller....they are the worst in communicating with the seller. Over and over again I have sent them messages. They won't give you a phone number and have yet to call me after SEVERAL request to contact me. Over and over their site request that I update my bank info, of which I did...once you do this, then they reset you back to having to wait five(5) days before funds are released. In the meantime all the taxes, fees etc are being taken out of my personal bank account which put me in the negative. ALL the money is sitting in my Etsy account...as if being held hostage. That's where they should be taking the taxes and fees from. Instead, they over and over again are not releasing the $1800 in my account. It's just sitting there. I'm so pissed. No one is communicating..and now it's asking me to update my bank info AGAIN. WHY????? So Etsy can keep it another 5 days, then only to ask me again to update bank info. This is total *** So pissed right now. I need the money...I have packages to mail out and my upfront cost to have the items made. I need MY MONEY... If you are looking for a place to sell your items. Etsy is the last place..and even if it was the last place...I would NOT use them. I am doing a fundraiser for the Lymphoma Research Foundation and I can't wait until I am done with it and done with Etsy.

Businesses on Etsy.

Etsy is supposed to be a web site that combines sellers of handmade items with customers. There are tons of businesses that claim to hand make their products. I checked one shop in particular and ordered 500 of their handmade products and it went to checkout. I did not place the order which was several thousand dollars. So they have 500 of one of their hundreds of clocks ready to ship????? They have hundreds of these different clocks. Many other items are companies posing as hand made products. This creates an unfair advantage for those who really do craft their products. I can see how businesses mass producing products would create more revenue for Etsy, but this in not what this website is supposed to represent.

I published 10 products in my Etsy profile more than 3 months ago. The insanity is that I have to pay for each published product, $ 0.17 each. even if I do not sell anything. I've never sold any of them. If you sell something, you have to pay 5% of the total amount, including shipping costs. What else, to put the seller in the worst situation of discomfort. The Etsy company must ensure that your products are visible to the world. If I do a search on Etsy as a buyer, I can not find my products. So, this site is just SMOKING IN EYES, a junk and not useful service for creators, artists and artisans who offer quality products. Etsy is synonymous with theft and abuse on the work of others .. Only the MAFIA AND CRIMINALITY operates this type of exploitation of people. Etsy is synonymous with non-sustainability, non-equity and non-respect for the work of people. Today I deleted my profile and I advise everyone to do the same. At this point it is much better to publish on local platforms that are emerging in recent years. All you need is the patience to look for them online. I wish Etsy to receive millions of class actions for all the money stolen from honest people.

I used to own a store. I've had to complain on several on there selling items of my work. I spent the better time of 2 hours daily to search items so I could report on all of them to get them shutdown. They have deactivated my account, which is fine since I will never use them again and I have filed a lawsuit against copyright infringement. I found out later my account was deactivated due to copyright issues that someone else claimed my items were theirs, when in fact they were not. I'd stay far away from this site. Its full of more scams than ebay. I would especially avoid opening a store with them. Their site again is a complete scam, and their payments are overly slow. I just wish I would have known sooner instead of gathering a following on this site. I have since moved on. And their crooked ways have allowed them to buy a like overseas site that has recently closed down and converted over to etsy.com BUYER/SELLER BEWARE.

Etsy Removes bad reviews

Esty took down, a very factual negative review I left for a dishonest abusive seller. I purchased a $50.00 painting from a seller on Etsy, but it was misrepresented. She became defensive and abusive when I called her on it, she offered to allow a return, but, after I would have had to pay for the shipping, what’s the point? She took no responsibility for her mistakes, instead just denied them, including the fact it smelled like smoke, which I now see she has had complaints about before, and also denied them, and sent abusive emails. I get the feeling she has done this before. Leaves things out of the descriptions that affect the value, but keeps the price points low so that what you lose on shipping it back, makes it not worth returning, but takes absolutely no responsibility for any thing. I wrote a really bad review, but well within the Etsy guide lines yesterday, and ETSY TOOK IT DOWN! If someone else who had a similar experience with this vendor had warned me off with a similar review, I would not be out 50 dollars for a 10 dollar painting right now.

Etsy - Can't get any phone number to correct an OLD credit card

in 2015 the credit card on your file was notified and supposed to have been changed to the current and correct one. It has not and I no longer have that banking information. who keeps cancellled credit cards for more than 3 years? Etsy certainally corrected the billing to the new card but somehow it can't pay me to the new card. If this doesn't get corrected quickly I will close my little shop and Never deal with etsy again. This is riduclous for a company like Etsy to keep its contact phone number so private! the contacts that I did find did not offer any topics that apply nor any contact. It just went round roundin a loop I could not find anything on my shop page or any where else for that matter. I've already spend 3 hours. Etsy has cost me $75.00 in lost earned income!

Etsy - Unfair Policing of Sellers

I have happily traded on Etsy for a year, no issues, revenue steadily growing. Then, bam - my store is suspended as I am apparently not complying. I remove the listings they have issues with (even though I disagree) but make the point about several other sellers having similar items still on site. I formally report a few lines and then nothing happens...No interest in deactivating them and they do not want to have an open discussion on why. The reason I suspect - they are bigger sellers with thousands of transactions and are obviously making more money than me. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour to implement a policy that is not applicable to all sellers. Turning a blind eye for money.

10 years I never had an issue with anything on the site. Pretty smooth operation. Customers love my products with great reviews. Sold a $45 photograph to a very impatient woman. She started sending me harassing emails for Several days complaining about the item having not arrived. I told her I don't have it. I gave her the tracking number (etsy shipping label) , please call the post office. More Sniveling and whining and I had just had it. Told her to NOT contact me again. This whole time she has been attacking and insulting me and I've really just had enough of her. Very abusive to me. Very frustrating when they just REFUSE to listen. Told her she would just have to WAIT. Mind you we are only 5 days out with a 2-3 day handling time and a 3 day weekend. That didn't matter. So wanted to complain. So yes I told her NOT to contact me again and I called her a retard. She's not of course. I just got tired of the insulting abusive emails. I shouldn't have to put up with that just because she can't wait the normal amount of handling time. That was it. I think that was the word that got me thrown off etsy. I sent a graveling email to etsy integrity. Asked if I can appeal. I can't ecven sign-in to create an appeal. I really don't have any hope. I've got ebay, amazon, Bonanza and a couple more smaller site. To bad, I rather liked the set up on etsy. Again, never had a problem until this lady started harassing me as if I was her personal pinata. Not fair that I get abused and then punished for defending myself. We all have a right to be treated fairly and I have not been...... Any suggestions?
